I'm taking a vacation day from my life this Saturday.
You want to know what I'll be doing?
Reading a book. (This one, it's an absolute favorite. I've read it about six times).
Working a traditional job with long hours and a commute (sigh, adulthood) it often feels like I need the weekends just to run errands and keep my life moving.
But when Tuesday of this week hit and my feet started to drag, I had a thought: On Saturday, I will do but one thing: read a book. I will actively choose that.
I have been looking forward to it since.
There aren't enough vacation days in the year and I've somehow managed to save all of my time for the tail end, which actually, will be great when it happens, but it means that right now, at this stretch, I am itching to get away. So I'm going to read. With a lit candle and a clean apartment. With a latte never far from my side and long breaks for bellyfuls of good food.
I haven't taken a day like this in so long that the idea for it...well, it's nice to remember who you are, sometimes. And reading, especially when it's a good book, always feels like coming home.
What other sorts of things do you all do to vacation in the everyday? Please leave a comment below, I'd love to know!
